Ingredients
- 360 ml whipping cream
- 170 g dark cooking chocolate
Preparation
1. Warm a portion of the cream
Pour about 120 ml of the whipping cream into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it for roughly one minute, just until it becomes warm. Avoid letting it boil.
2. Melt the chocolate
Add the chopped chocolate to the warm cream and stir gently. Let the mixture sit for around five minutes so the chocolate can soften and melt completely.
3. Create a smooth mixture
Use a whisk to mix the chocolate and cream together until the texture becomes smooth and glossy. Set the mixture aside and allow it to cool slightly.
4. Whip the remaining cream
Place the remaining 240 ml of cold cream in a separate bowl. Beat it until soft peaks begin to form. Remove about 120 ml of this whipped cream and keep it in the refrigerator for later decoration. Continue whipping the remaining cream until it becomes firm.
5. Combine the mixtures
Gradually fold the cooled chocolate mixture into the whipped cream in three additions. Use a spatula and mix gently so the mousse remains light and airy.
6. Chill the mousse
Divide the finished mousse into four small bowls or glasses. Refrigerate for at least one hour before serving. It can also stay chilled for up to four hours.
Serving
Before serving, add a spoonful of the reserved whipped cream on top of each portion. If desired, finish with grated chocolate or chopped hazelnuts for extra flavor and decoration.
Tip
To enhance the flavor even more, you can mix a pinch of salt, a drop of vanilla extract, or a small splash of coffee liqueur into the melted chocolate. These additions deepen the chocolate taste and make the dessert even more aromatic.
