How It All Started (The “Ruined Dinner” That Sparked Reciplix)
Every great recipe website should start with a passion for food, but Reciplix actually started with a very smoky kitchen and a completely ruined date-night dinner.
A few years ago, we decided to skip the expensive Italian restaurants and make a “simple” creamy garlic parmesan chicken pasta at home. We found a popular recipe online that looked absolutely flawless in the photos. The blogger promised it was foolproof.
It wasn’t.
Following their vague instructions, we ended up boiling the cream on high heat (which promptly separated into an oily mess), using pre-shredded parmesan that clumped into stubborn rubbery balls, and overcooking the chicken breasts until they tasted like cardboard. It was an expensive, frustrating disaster, and we ended up ordering pizza at 10 PM.
That night, as we sat surrounded by dirty pans, we realized something: The internet is full of over-stylized recipes designed to look good for social media, but they don’t actually work for regular people cooking in real home kitchens.
We decided to change that. We spent the next two weeks obsessively testing that exact same pasta dish—learning how to gently warm the cream, discovering why freshly grated parmesan is non-negotiable, and figuring out the exact minute to pull the chicken off the heat.
When we finally nailed it, we didn’t just write down the ingredients; we wrote down the why. That notebook of corrected, battle-tested recipes eventually grew into Reciplix.
